The chemical name of POvidone is polyethylpyrrolidone, POvidone K30 is a 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone homopolymer obtained by polymerization of pyrrolidone and pyrrolidone monomer under pressure under the action of catalyst, the molecular formula is (C6H9NO)n, where n represents the average number of 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone chain links. It can be used as binder of tablets and particles, co-solvent and stabilizer of injections, flow aid of capsules, dispersant of liquid preparations and colorants, stabilizer of enzyme and heat-sensitive drugs, co-precipitating agent of insoluble drugs, detoxifying agent of eye drugs, lubricant and coating film agent, etc.
Main use
Povidone K30 is mainly used in the pharmaceutical industry, as one of the three new pharmaceutical excipients advocated internationally. It is mainly used as binder of tablets and granules, flow aid of capsules, detoxification and lubricant of eye drugs, co-solvent of injections, dispersant of liquid preparations, stabilizer of enzymes and heat-sensitive drugs, synthesis of PVP-I disinfection and fungicide with iodine, and also as cryopreservation agent.
