1 2-hexanediol in skincare

1, 2-hexadiol is widely used in cosmetics.
1, 2-hexadiol plays a moisturizing role in cosmetics or care products, mainly improving the skin feel of the product.
It is mild and non-irritating. The risk factor is 1. So 1, 2-hexanediol is not harmful to the skin/body.

Responses were scored after 72 hours, with one in 205 showing a stimulus response, but no follow-up response was observed in the 4-day repeated release patch test.
·[Human trial] Skin stimulation was performed on 224 subjects (48 men, 176 women, 19-70 years old) using carbomer gel containing 0.5%, 1-hexadiol. And no skin irritation
[Human trials] When 56% of participants used a 10% aqueous solution of 1, 2-hexanediol, none of the participants caused skin irritation.
·[Human trial] A gel preparation containing 0.5% 1, 2-hexanediol was applied to the backs of 101 participants on a 24-hour semi-closed patch without causing skin irritation.

About eye irritation
A 1% aqueous solution of a mixture of 50% 1, 2-hexanediol and 50% octanediol is classified as severe eye irritation based on safety component review safety test data (Ref. 1:2012)
Based on the test data, severe eye irritation has been reported, so it is possible for severe eye irritation to occur.
About Skin allergies

Based on test data, almost no skin sensitization is usually reported. 1, 2-hexadiol is divided into basic components, moisturizing components and anti-corrosion components.
