• 2-Methyl-1,3-propanediol (MPO) introduction and application

About: Methylpropylene glycol is a colorless transparent liquid with low viscosity. Miscible with water, methanol, ethanol, butanol, propylene glycol, propylene glycol monomethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran, acetone, carbonate lactone, styrene, insoluble in cyclohexane, hexane, toluene, xylene. At about -54℃, the viscosity increases and the crystallization is not obvious. Applications: Methyl propylene glycol can be used in the manufacture of unsaturated polyester, liquid saturated polyester, thermoplastic polyester resin (PET and PBT modification), alkyd resin, polyurethane resin, double ester type plasticizers, lubricants, etc. Also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and so on. The obtained polymer has the characteristics of low viscosity, low melting point, low temperature resistance and weather resistance. In the field of polyurethane, it is used to produce polyester polyols with low crystallization, and can be used as chain extender. The application fields are synthetic leather paste, polyurethane coating, polyurethane adhesive for food flexible packaging composite. Preparation: In industry, propylene oxide is isomerized…

  • 2-Methyl-1,3-propanediol (MPO)-What are MPO chemicals?

Description: 2-Methyl-1,3-Propanediol is a colorless, low viscosity, low order of toxicity liquid with a unique molecular structure: a branched aliphatic diol with two primary hydroxyls. This structure inhibits the crystallization of 2-Methyl-1,3-Propanediol Glycol allowing it to remain liquid even in cold temperature. The main applications are the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resin, saturated polyester, alkyd resin, polyurethane, plasticizer, 2-Methyl-Propylene glycol diacrylate, 2-Methyl-Propylene glycol alkoxylate diacrylate, 2-Methyl-Propylene glycol alkoxylate, polyester polyol, modified PET for fiber and bottle, and personal care. Specification: Physical Properties: Application: Unsatured polyester resins (composites). The unique molecular structure of 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol brings significant process and property advantages to unsatured polyester resins. The two-primary hydroxyl and high boiling point character of 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol increase both esterification rates and productivity. This higher reactivity compared with other glycols, such as propylene glycol, leads to lighter color resins. Also, the non-linear backbone of 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol provides polyester with excellent styrene miscilility. 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol provides an excellent balance…
