Polyvinylpyrrolidone pvp chemical raw material
Polyvinylpyrrolidone (Polyvinylpyrrolidone) referred to as PVP, the medicinal name Povidone (Povidone) is a non-ionic water-soluble polymer, since the commercial emergence of the whole 80 years, is the most characteristic of N-vinylamide polymers, and has been studied the most in-depth, extensive fine variety, At present,it has developed into non-ionic, cationic, anion three categories, industrial grade, pharmaceutical grade, food grade three levels, molecular weight from thousands to more than one million homopolymer, copolymer, crosslinked polymer and polymer complex series products, and with its unique properties are widely used in various industries and scientific research departments around the world; Every year, the world publishes more than 1000 papers and patents to show its emerging status and the prospect of continuous development.
Nature and packaging, storage
Properties: PVP, as a synthetic water-soluble polymer compound, has the general properties of water-soluble polymer compounds, such as colloidal protection, film formation, adhesion, hygroscopicity, solubilization or condensation and the complexation ability of some compounds. However, its most distinctive features are its excellent solubility, complexation and biocompatibility. In synthetic polymers, such as PVP is soluble in water and most organic solvents, the toxicity is very low,and the biocompatibility is not common.
PVPK powder: Cardboard drum packaging, net weight 20/25KG/ drum
PVPK liquid: galvanized drum packing, net weight 200KG/ drum
Storage: Store in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep the container airtight and sun-proof
Precautions: Avoid skin and eye contact, do not inhale dust, do not ingest. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately, minimize dust production and
accumulation, and ensure adequate ventilation.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone PVP K15
White or milky white hygroscopic powder; Colorless, non-toxic, non-irritating; Soluble in water and a variety of organic solvents, insoluble in acetone, with such as colloidal protection, film formation, adhesion, hygroscopicity, solubilization or condensation, and some compounds of the ability to complex. Polyvinylpyrrolidone has both hydrophilic groups and oleophilic groups in the molecule, which makes it soluble in water and most organic solvents (such as alcohols, carboxylic acids, amines, halogenated hydrocarbons, etc.), with low toxicity and good physiological compatibility. The solubility of polyvinylpyrrolidone in water is limited only by its own viscosity.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone PVP K30
Water treatment membrane is a synthesis of PVP pore-causing agent, solvent and membrane polymer. PVPK30 as a pore-causing agent, the membrane produced has many excellent properties. Has chemical stability; It can effectively control the size of membrane aperture and the distribution of pores. Increase the density of membrane pore and improve the permeability of membrane; Improve the membrane surface hydrophilicity, good biocompatibility.
When PVP is used as a pore-causing agent, it will be enriched on the surface of the membrane, and when the surface of the membrane is in contact with water,
PVP will dissolve in water, forming a channel for non-solvent to enter the membrane interior. These points constitute the growth points of the finger pores, and in
the subsequent process, it will grow towards the membrane parent body to form finger pores. Finally, the polymer is concentrated and complementary, and the
dilute polymer phase is eluted by PVP. The narrower the molecular weight distribution of PVP, the more homogeneous pore size can be formed (uniform membrane pore size), and there will be significant improvement in improving membrane flux (large water flux), retention rate and membrane strength.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone PVP K90
PVPK90 is a strong bonding polymer, divided into solid powder and liquid. It is used as adhesive and thickener in different systems and has good bond stability. In fine ceramic processing, sintered ceramics with high dimensional accuracy, controllable magnetic sintered ceramics, flexible ceramics, ceramic surface coating, ceramic, glass printing ink, ceramic glaze can be used as slurry, pigment and other dispersant, adhesive and have been widely valued and applied.
In ceramic processing, the ceramic can be completely burned during sintering. Therefore, there is no effect on the ceramic itself. PVPK90 also prevents ceramic
products from breaking before sintering. In glazes and inks, PVP’s affinity for pigments and dyes ensures uniform, stable and high adhesion of the ink and glaze.
When glass, ceramics, quartz, asbestos, mica and other inorganic materials are used to prepare highly flexible and special paper, PVP can often disperse and bond the fibers and improve the strength of the paper.
Polyethylvinylpyrrolidone PVPK series product characteristics and applications
Features:
1. Solubility
Polyvinylpyrrolidone contains both hydrophilic groups and oleophilic groups, and is soluble in water and many organic solvents. It is easier to dissolve in organic
solvents with strong polarity, and harder to dissolve in organic solvents with weak polarity or non-polar.
In the following table, the solvent listed under “soluble” can form at least 10% solution with it, and the solvent listed under “insoluble” can form less than 1%
solution with it.
2. Molecular weight
The molecular weight of polymer PVP is generally indicated by weight average molecular weight or number average molecular weight, and the most commonly
used is weight average molecular weight MW, which is the light scattering method to determine the weight of molecules. The MW values of PVP-K series products
are as follows:
PVP-K12 2000… 3000
PVP-K15 6000… 9000
PVP-K17 7000… 11000
PVP-K25 28000… 34000
PVP-K30 44000… 54000
PVP-K60 320000… 380000
PVP-K90 1000000… 1500000
PVP-K120 1600000… 2000000
3. Hygroscopicity
Polyvinylpyrrolidone has strong water absorption and moisture retention, and the moisture absorption of polyvinylpyrrolidone with different molecular weights
(K25,K30,K90) is basically not different, which is very important in many applications, and the water absorption of PVP in the air increases with the increase of
relative humidity.
4. Complexation
PVP can form complexes with a variety of substances, especially hydroxyl, carboxyl, amino and other compounds or elements containing active chlorine, for
example, it can form complexes with many mycin, viruses, medicines and toxic chemicals, reducing its toxicity and irritation.
a)PVP and elemental iodine form PVP-I through complexation, which is an efficient and spectral germicidal disinfectant.
b) Complex with insoluble active components to form water-soluble complex, so that absorption becomes easy, and used as a co-solvent and sustained-release
agent in pharmaceutical processes.
c) Strong complexation with a few substances (such as polyphenol), forming precipitation in neutral and acidic substances, this property can remove polyphenol and anthocyanin from solutions and beverages, but the use of insoluble PVP is better.
Note: Strongly alkaline substances (such as lithium carbonate or sodium hydroxide), can make PVP crosslinking, especially at high temperatures, more likely to occur, in extreme cases, can thicken pharmaceutical liquid preparations and can hinder the release of active ingredients.
Detergent:
PVP has anti-fouling reprecipitation performance, can be used to configure transparent liquid or heavy dirt detergent, the addition of PVP in detergent has a good anti-color effect, and can enhance the cleaning ability, when washing fabrics can prevent synthetic detergent on the skin stimulation, especially for synthetic fibers, this performance is more prominent than carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) detergent. PVP can be combined with borax as an effective ingredient in the formulation of phenol-containing disinfectant detergent. The detergent mixed with PVP and hydrogen peroxide has the function of wandering and killing bacteria.
Textile printing and dyeing:
PVP and many organic dyes have a good affinity, it can be combined with polypropylene acrylic, ester, nylon and fiber materials such as hydrophobic synthetic
fibers, improve dyeing power and hydrophilicity,PVP and nylon graft copolymerization, the production of fabric improved the wet wrinkle resistance and moisture
resistance.
Paints and Pigments:
Coating paint with PVP, coating film transparent without affecting the color, improve the gloss and dispersion of paint and pigment, improve thermal stability and
improve the dispersion of ink and ink.
Polymer surfactant:
Polyvinylpyrrolidone, as a polymer surfactant, can be used as dispersant, emulsifier, thickener, leveling agent, particle size regulator, anti-reprecipitating agent,
coagulant, co-solvent and detergent in different dispersion systems.
