Pharmaceutical grade POvidone K90 features 2024 Pharmacopoeia filing
Povidone is a water-soluble synthetic polymer, the key ingredient is N-vinylidenone. It is a polymer with high adhesive properties, and is important as a binder for wet granulation of solid preparations. Its properties make it a critical excipient in various oral liquid systems, suspensions and local drug development applications
Solubility: easily soluble in water and halogenated hydrocarbon solvents, alcohols, amines, nitroalkanes and low molecular fatty acids, insoluble in acetone, ethyl, turpentine, aliphatic hydrocarbons and alicyclic hydrocarbons and other few solvents. It is compatible with most inorganic salts and various resins.
Properties: Hydrophilic and easy to flow white or nearly white powder, with a slight odor.
PVP is divided into four stages according to its average molecular weight size, which is usually expressed by the K value, and different K values represent the corresponding average molecular weight range of PVP. The K value is actually an eigenvalue related to the relative viscosity of PVP aqueous solution, and the viscosity is a physical quantity related to the molecular weight of polymers, so the average molecular weight of PVP can be characterized by K value. Generally, the greater the K value, the greater the viscosity and the stronger the adhesion. Titanium dioxide CAS number :13463-67-7 Molecular formula :02Ti Molecular weight :79.87.

Characteristics of pharmaceutical excipients povidone K90 (C6H9NO)n
Also known as polyenpyridone, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyn-vinylbutylactam. It is a white or milky white, odorless or almost odorless, easily flowing amorphous powder with hygroscopicity. Soluble in water, ethanol and chloroform, insoluble in ethyl and acetone. The aqueous solution of this product has a certain viscosity, and the viscosity of the solution below 10% is basically the same as that of water. This product is purified 1-ethylene-2-pyrrolidone 30% ~ 60% aqueous solution, in the presence of ammonia or amine, hydrogen peroxide as a catalyst, at 50℃ temperature after cross-chain homopolymerization purification. It has the properties and functions of bonding, thickening, suspension aid, dispersion, dissolution aid, complexation and film formation, etc. It is used as thickener, bell suspension agent, dispersant, co-solvent, complexation agent, precursor drug carrier agent, binder, film forming material, coating material and slow release material in pharmaceutical products.
