Properties, uses and production technology of crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone
Application field
Crosslinked polyethylpyrrolidone (PVPP) is a kind of crosslinked polymer which is polymerized from vinylpyrrolidone monomer under certain conditions and is insoluble in water, strong acid, strong base and common organic solvents. As an important polymer fine chemical product,PVPP has many excellent and unique properties, and has been widely used in cosmetics, food, medicine and other fields.
peculiarity
Crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPP) can be seen as a linear PVP molecular chain by physical or chemical crosslinking. Some properties of PVPP obtained by different synthesis methods are different due to different crosslinking methods and crosslinking degrees. Depending on the degree of crosslinking, PVPP appears as super absorbent resins (low crosslinking), water absorbent gels (medium crosslinking) and insoluble substances (high crosslinking). Compared with PVP, PVP is a water-soluble polymer, while PVPP can only swell in water.
Synthesis method
Structurally, cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPP) can be regarded as a kind of cross-linked polymer which is formed by cross-linking polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) molecular chains with linear molecular structure through physical or chemical methods. Commonly used crosslinking methods are: N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) crosslinking,NVP self-crosslinking polymerization (popcorn polymerization) and compounds with multiple unsaturated groups (such as bifunction crosslinking agents) and NVP crosslinking copolymerization. The main cross-linking agents commonly used in polymerization are alkylene bisacrylamide (such as N, N-methylene bisacrylamide, etc.), divinylaromatic compounds (such as divinylbenzene, divinylethylbenzene, etc.).
use
Used in beverage, pharmaceutical industry
Due to the high molecular weight and cross-linked structure of crosslinked POvidone, it is insoluble in water but can quickly cause its network structure to expand and disintegrate when it is met with water, and it is widely used as a disintegrator of medicine tablets, in addition, it is widely used as a suspension stabilizer, a complex agent of pharmaceutical components, and a complex agent of tannins and polyphenols in plant drugs.
Crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-P) can form complexes with phenols and alkaloids to remove them from plant samples, thus preventing the modification and interference of proteins and allowing for more accurate determination of protein content. It has also been reported that crosslinked polyethylpyrrolidone (PVP-P) can improve the activity of the enzyme.
